Silage: 5/5 stars - On me, this fragrance projected immensely and never faded away. Review: I really wanted to love this perfume because I enjoy warm, spicy scents. But this was far too masculine in its delivery for me and far, far too strong with no redeeming payoff during drydown. As someone who loves more tame scents that evolve pleasantly over time, I simply couldn't fall in love with Black Orchid's dark, spicy, screeching style. 8-10 hours of longevity and 4 hours of a beautiful chocolate patchouli bubble. This is a gem, a confidence/mood booster (some days I am bold, and wear this to the office for a pickmeup). The oud is only there to add some nose feel, some texture, nothing too noxious. Something I associate with common male scents, maybe aquatics. Honestly, it kind of reminds me of the smell that comes out of an aerosol can when there's no more product left. Eventhough it feels masculine, it also oozes femininity like no other.Recommended For: I think this fragrance would appeal to strong perfume lovers, especially fans of scents dominated by smoky notes as well as masculine spices. Maybe the oudy smell is supposed to be the mushroom. Definitely not for all women, probably suits more the very confident type. ( no offence intended for the people who love this) ...Scent-wise, it struck me as a very (and I can't emphasize that word enough) smoky floral with masculine spices brewed into the mixture.Granted, Black Orchid doesn't smell like a cheap concoction that was blindly tossed together like throwing ingredients into a pot of stew.I think the scent structure and delivery is far more befitting a man's cologne than a woman's perfume. Let me start off this review by saying that this is mens floral done right. This is probably the one I'm getting myself for Christmas, with Mugler Alien or Angel as alternatives.
But this simply was not a pleasant or an enjoyable scent for me to wear.
Unfortunately, there is a hint of something medicinal that I am not a huge fan of. And I am a little sad to find this not to be a very warm spice. The earthiness remains but isn't enough to add the heat back that would justify it as cozy autumn-wear to me. It’s a power monsters and the longevity is fantastic, maybe I still have to wear it more time.... I think too many women and girls wear it, while this fragrance definitely requires a very specific type of personality and appearance to pull it off, so that it wouldn't seem like a 13-year old girl decided to wear mom's black stilettos and dark plum lipstick. I think the later bottles of the EDP are not as intense as my first bottle, but that may just be me, and sillage and longevity are still great. I will say that this is a fragrance that wears you- I can instantly pick it out if I smell it, and I've been called out on it myself before.
not a simple and lively scent it’s very complicated and difficult to wear... I feel like deep inside many women want to have that vampy quality, but in reality very few of us do. ranging all the way from the heavy hitters to tooth-achingly sweet gourmands. I am absolutely intoxicated by this scentual hybrid .
It's so unusual and so uniquely sexy and well-balanced with the sweetness of the floral and chocolate notes. She goes back a few times until I have to pull her away , or stand up if sitting down .
As the icing on the cake, my husband loves it when I wear it. She is a Lilac Point Siamese and extremely smart , plus she has excellent taste ~ /=^ } Black Orchid EDP I like this one. When I first ever smelled it a few years back, I was blown away but a bit overwhelmed by its richness and opulence as I had only just begun my fragrance journey and had quite the beginners nose.
In the floral-spicy heart, dwells the Tom Ford's black orchid, imaginary more than real, and the base combines woodsy notes (patchouli and sandalwood), dark chocolate, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla and balsam.
