One can also view performance and status information about the managed database.
Database Control is by default installed if “Use Database Control for Database Management” option is used on the “Select Database Management Option” page when installing the Oracle Database Server.
In my previous post, I tried to show how to install Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c, now I’ll show how to add target hosts to our Enterprise Manager system.
I assume that you’re in a similar position (installed Cloud Control but haven’t added any target yet).
Select “new” to be able to enter credentials of the user you added as sudoer, this information will be saved so you can use it later. Click “setup”, “add target” and then “auto discovery results”. It says this directory will be created but don’t forget the user should be able to create this directory. Do not forget to add “oracle” user to sudoers on target server like we did on cloud control server!
As usual, you should configure sudo in target system.I could add this host to /etc/hosts file of my cloud control to see its name instead of its IP. Click “deploy agent” to start installing Management Agent to target server. Click “setup”, “add target”, “add targets manually”, then click “add host”.Click “add” button to enter hostname (or IP) of the target server you want to add. Next steps are same with adding “discovered targets”, you enter the location to install agent, enter the credentials then click next.Check if the Database Control service is running by executing: ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl status dbconsolethe output should be::5500/em/console/about Application Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is running.------------------------------------------------------------------Logs are generated in directory /d01/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/hostname_sid/sysman/log If the Database Control service is not running start it with: ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl start dbconsole To stop the Database Control service run: ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl stop dbconsole A complete list of available commands can be obtained by just typing: ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl - ORACLE_HOME/hostname_sid/sysman/log/emdb.nohup - contains the standard output from the Console main Java process at each start/exit (dbconsole and agent). This value needs to be set to one of the values listed in '/usr/pkg/oracle/product/10.2.0/db/sysman/admin/supportedtzs.lst'.It is appended with each new output of the Console main Java process.- ORACLE_HOME/hostname_sid/sysman/log/and - main agent log & trace files- ORACLE_HOME/hostname_sid/sysman/log/and - main management service log & trace files- ORACLE_HOME/hostname_SID/sysman/log/and - emctl log & trace files- ORACLE_HOME/hostname_SID/sysman/log/and - log and trace file for Java Fetchlets Additional information related to log files can be found under Troubleshooting steps:1. Mainly, check, ORACLE_HOME, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, LANG.2. Execute 'emctl config agent get TZ' and see if this is an appropriate value. Connection Service verify Repository Ex.418 - Invalid Connection Pool. Database Control starts successfully, however checking the status shows "EM Deamon is not running".
